Chess is a board game that is similar to playing poker wherein players tend to attack and defend against their opponent. Logical and decisive thinking should be made to play chess openings. The opening is considered as the most important part in the game because you have to be certain of the first six to eight moves that you should make. Sometimes it is confusing especially if it is not yet clear which positions are valuable. Knowing and practicing more about chess openings is one way to avoid mistakes in the game. However, it is not enough that learn ideas and strategies but you have to practice it repeatedly towards mastery.

To initiate chess opening, the first thing to consider is to understand the rules. It is not enough to learn the game without understanding its rules. Likewise, you should also know the values of your pieces for you to plan the best move. Beginners take an opening by controlling the center area of the board. This is done by moving the King’s pawn or the Queen’s Pawn making an opening in the center isle. This idea does not only makes you control the center but also dominate the board.

Once you have in control the center, the next plan to take is to develop the minor pieces. If you are in the white, you can to f3 or c3 while the black can move to c6. These moves will help you develop the Knight on the center squares. Likewise, you should also develop the King’s Bishop, as it will allow you to castle for the next move. However, it is ideal to look for the right square where you can move your Bishop at the same time will provide you tough defensive position.

The Rooks are also a powerful piece that is valuable in openings. This chess piece can destroy any other piece that is in front or beside it. The Queen’s Rook is also helpful in castling. On the other hand, it is important that you provide protection for every piece especially for the King and Queen. Never let your opponent threaten or trap these powerful pieces because it will be your disadvantage. Therefore, you should be careful in making opening with your King and Queen, as it would result to losing the game.

As mentioned earlier, castling is one way to make your King safe. Always plan a move that would defend your King all through the game. Castling is done by moving the King 2 square to the right and the Rook two squares to the left. However, according to the rules of the game, you cannot do castling if your King is checkmate by your opponent.

Openings in chess require players to plan a move that would be supportive through the middle and end of the game. Once you commit mistake early in the opening, you will find hard time fixing it in the middle game as well as in the end game. Proper positioning of the piece as well as effective move will end the game to your advantage.
